While many other destinations in Europe are still licking their wounds over a disappointing summer season, Denmark posted a 5.8% increase in overnights from the U.S. in August compared with August 2008, according to official tourism agency VisitDenmark.
This boost came on the heels of an 8.1% increase in July, bringing the January-to-August numbers up about 1.2% over 2008.
"It was a huge surprise," said Susanne Nordenbaek, North American director for VisitDenmark, noting that the uptick began in Q2 2009.

I wonder if the water will break down the starch too much, although I don't know if that's bad or even possible, scientifically.

The misleading thing about sophomore slump, as a concept, is that it focuses on the downturn.

But when it comes to second acts, you don't get the luxury of another few decades to develop your point of view and — even worse — comparisons to your first outing are inevitable.
